Athlone, day four. This was our first session at this school in central Athlone. And I must say, what a pleasant experience it was. The teachers were really enthusiastic and on time too! The principal joined us as well.. always good to see someone leading from the front. We started off with the questionnaire and there were no technical glitches this time around. Afterwards, my colleague - new Post Doc - proposed that we have an online feedback session. So we asked teachers to check out the discussion page, which also included a chat section. This they enjoyed so much, and a lot of fun was had between them. Amazing how something as simple as a chat function can really boost the energy in the room. Mind you, they didn't really bother to give feedback.
After this, time was up. I created a folder on the 'common' server, in which I placed several videos and documents for teachers to access in their own time. I really encourage our participants to try and play around with the training materials during the week - if and when they have time. I want teachers to become as involved as possible, and not view the weekly sessions as something they are forced to do. We'll report more on this in the coming weeks.
